About me

My Philosophy
  •  Birth is a normal process, not a pathological ‘problem’ to be solved

  •  You have the right to be an active participant in your own birth experience; that means being allowed to make informed choices about your practitioners, your birth setting, interventions (or lack thereof), attendees, etc.

  • Partners are as emotionally invested in their children’s births as laboring women are; they too need support in order to minimize anxiety and feel involved/engaged with the birth process to the extent that they and their partner wish

  •  Having a doula is the best way to ensure a satisfying birth experience, that is, one in which the laboring woman feels respected, in control and supported

  •  I can and will help you to self-advocate before and during your labor and birth, but I cannot be your voice

  •  I believe in evidence-based practice

  • My #1 goal is your satisfaction, confidence and comfort – I recognize that your birth is not my birth and that your choices may be different from my own.

My pledge to each of my clients is that I will always respect your choices and support you 100% in making them.

I will never judge you or make you doubt your instincts.

I know that you are strong.

My Story

I am a wife, mom to many (5 birthed by me and many "love" kids), and grandma.   I am a follower of Jesus Christ.  I totally believe that God has called me into the birth world as a Professional Birth Doula.  My first three births were natural, unmedicated births in a hospital setting.  My fourth birth ended with an emergency c-section due to fetal distress.  My fifth birth was a natural, unmedicated VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caeserean).  I believe that my experience with these births helps me relate to what a mom may be experiencing with their birth.

I believe that women are empowered when they experience birth.   I believe that we are created to know what we must do to birth our children.   My goal is to help moms and dads realize how their partnership in the birth process can strengthen and enhance their lives together.

My goal is to serve moms in birth, helping them to reach their desired birth experience.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a

single day had passed.
